  • Lobbied and testified against the Trash Transfer Station
  • Past member City of Bowie Economic Development Committee as liaison between City and Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce.
  • Spoke at Congressional Press Conference regarding the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
  • Instrumental in creating the basis for SB250, a bill created to form an Equal Pay Commission to study the wage disparity in Maryland. 
  • Instrumental in overturning the Governor’s Veto on SB250.
  • Guest on CBS Early Morning Show speaking against privatization of Social Security.
  • Mentor Bowie High School (SomeOneCares) and City of Bowie Park & Planning, Choices & Challenges Program, providing developmental guidance for disadvantaged youth.

Extensive community involvement with organizations and individuals who need innovative solutions to social, business or governmental problems:

  • Board Member Soroptimist International of Bowie-Crofton an international service organization.
  • Organizer, clothing and food drives for displaced homemakers.
  • Moderator, televised roundtable discussions on Equal Pay with State Congressman.

  • Well known as a political activist for state and local affairs. As a recognized spokesperson, I have been an invited guest both in Annapolis and at the White House.
